AMD Athlon™ II X3 Desktop-Prozessor
Der AMD Athlon II X3 ist nun der letzte Prozessor der die Lücke zwischen dem Athlon II X2 und X4 schließt. Er basiert weitgehend dem Athlon II X4 mit dem Propus-Kern. Da aber ein Chip deaktiviert ist, heißt der Kern des Athlon II X3 auch Rana.
Mit 512 kB L2-Cache und einem fehlenden L3-Cache unterscheidet er sich vom Phenom II X3. Sonst unterstützt er alle technischen Gegebenheiten der anderen Prozessoren der K10 Architektur. Dabei ist die Unterstützung vom DDR3-Speicher, AMD-V, und HT3.0 die Rede.
Der Athlon II X3 läuft soweit auf AM3-Plattformen und auch auf AM2+-Plattformen, sofern ein BIOS-Update des Mainboard-Herstellers bereitgestellt wird. Möglich macht das die noch bereitgestellte DDR2-Unterstützung, die sich wahrscheinlich Mitte oder Ende 2010 völlig aus den neueren Prozessormodellen genommen wird.
